1. How to send a request
In the RestMap app, open Profile → Info → Delete, read the consequences and confirm your request. Once the server confirms acceptance, processing continues even if you close the app.
If you lose access to the app or the saved receipt, email com.restmap.app@gmail.com. Include the email linked to the account, its identifier or sign-in method. To request deletion of a particular item, include a link or enough information to find it.
If you used Sign in with Apple with a hidden email, include the relay address linked to RestMap or another available identifier. Do not send passwords, one-time codes or a copy of an identity document unless specifically requested through a justified verification process.
Your email app will open. Please review and send the message yourself.
2. What the button in the app does
Once the server confirms acceptance, the account becomes unavailable on all devices, personal content is hidden, the local profile is cleared and the app enters guest mode. This starts deletion; completion of all erasure is confirmed separately.
Linked records and files are processed on the server. If a network response is lost, the app can safely retry the same request. Until acceptance is confirmed, it does not claim that deletion was accepted or completed.
Signing out or uninstalling the app does not itself delete the server account.
3. How to check the status
A request receipt is saved on your device. Open Profile → Check status: you do not need to sign in to the account being deleted. The dialog opens when you tap the button, rather than on every launch or sign-out.
The status shows whether the request is queued, processing, needs team review or is completed. “Your account has been deleted. Review of older files is still in progress.” means that the account itself has been deleted, while review of legacy files remains open.
Registering again, including with the same sign-in method, creates a separate account. The old request does not belong to it and is not shown in its profile. The saved receipt remains available in the guest profile on the original device.
If the receipt is unavailable or you need an explanation of the status, email com.restmap.app@gmail.com. Losing a receipt does not cancel a request already accepted by the server.
4. What data deletion covers
Deletion covers the profile and RestMap sign-in identifiers, user activity, personal text, photos and files. An independently verified shared place or event card may remain after the link to the user and that user’s personal contribution are removed; other users’ content is not deleted with the account.
If ownership of a legacy file cannot be reliably established, the RestMap team reviews it. This may continue after the account itself has been deleted. An account-deleted message does not mean that every legacy file has been found and erased; completion of the request is shown separately.
If some data must be retained by law, the response explains which data, why and for how long. Content from which a person can still be identified cannot be described as anonymous.
- Profile and sign-in identifiers: name, email and links to Apple, Google or Telegram.
- Associated activity: ratings, likes, event attendance selections, reports and suggested corrections.
- User content and photos, including the public link to the author’s name and copies in storage.
- Purchase data, support requests, logs and backups, if any, subject to specific legal grounds and limited retention periods.
5. Timing and recovery
RestMap handles requests without undue delay. Timing depends on applicable law, necessary account-ownership checks and the data involved. Where the GDPR applies, a response is normally provided within one month; an extension requires grounds allowed by law and notice.
Erasure from the live database, file cleanup and the end of backup retention may occur at different times. If legacy material needs review or storage restrictions apply, the receipt continues to show the request status. You can contact RestMap for an explanation of the remaining steps and timing.
Signing in again does not restore a deleted account: registration creates a separate account. The new account neither cancels nor completes review of the old request.
6. If you have a subscription
Check your active subscriptions in the App Store or Google Play and, if necessary, cancel renewal through the store. Removing the app, disabling the account or requesting data deletion does not automatically cancel a subscription.
Keep your purchase information if you may need it when contacting the store or support. Do not attach full payment card details.
For a legacy Apple account where RestMap has no revocation token, RestMap data is still deleted. The receipt may ask you to stop using Apple ID for RestMap separately in your Apple ID settings.
